Playa del Rio RV Resort, Beach & Boat Club is very pet-friendly. We love dogs, and we enjoy seeing pets being such a big part of the family with RVers! However, our insurance will not allow breeds such as: Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, and other Wolf Breeds. If you have an aggressive dog, you will be fully responsible for any issues that come from your pets, including but no limited to vet and hospitals bills of other pets and/or guests. Additionally, all pets must have all appropriately vaccinations, shots, etc. current and must be using proper flea medications to be on our resort property.
We have a dedicated area for pets to do their business. Oscar Park is located near the entrance of the resort in front of the resort office (this is where all dogs must go to do their business and check their p-mail)! Additionally, along the road side at the entrance and along Perdido Key Drive is a nice stretch of grassy space for dogs that like to walk in larger spaces; and there are several public dog parks in the Orange Beach, Alabama, Gulf Shores, Alabama and Perdido Key, Florida areas where dogs are allowed to be off their leashes (some are waterfront dog parks). The dog park at Playa del Rio is small, does not have a fence, and is not designed for pets to be off their leash to run freely; but well-behaved pets are allowed off their leash in Oscar Park when no other pets are present. Other local area dog parks are available by calling the Gulf Shores, Alabama, Orange Beach, Alabama and Perdido Key, Florida visitor centers and their local Chamber of Commerce offices
Please note that if you have a service dog or an emotional support animal that will accompany you at the Playa del Rio, you will need to: a) notify our office in advance via email by noting that you will be traveling with a service dog and also make a note on your on-line reservation request form in the Special Notes section of the form, b) notify our office at the time of your reservation confirmation when you book your RV site over the phone, and c) again notify our office on the date of your arrival when you provide our reservations office with information on your service animal for your guest profile. Since we only have one area designated for dogs, while dogs are not allowed in many places, we need to be made aware of your situation and our staff needs to be made aware of any special needs you may have. All guests who expect to have their service animal accompany them are required to provide information regarding service animals to the Reservations Office at time of reservation and at time of check-in, so that we have a record on file during your stay that a service animal is required because of a disability and so that we know what task the animal has been trained to perform. Our resort is ADA-compliant; and Playa del Rio always strives to accommodate any and all special requests and needs of all of our guests. All service dogs are required to either be held by their owner or remain by their owner’s side within three feet (3′) of the owner at all times, unless your dog is at your RV site or being walked, in which case six feet (6′) leashes are allowed. Please note that dogs are not allowed on our beach boardwalk (Escambia County law does not allow dogs on the beach) and dogs are not allow on our Riverside Pavilion (no dogs are allowed past the circle turnaround of the resort as that property is an amenity owned by a third party that does not allow dogs on their property). All registered guests at Playa del Rio will be required to follow all resort pet policies and signs, no exceptions. Please discuss our pet policies with our office upon check-in if you have any questions.
