FROM WEST on I-10 (using Gulf Shores Parkway / Hwy 59):
Travel East on I-10 from Mobile, Alabama. Take Exit 44 Alabama Hwy 59 South.  Head South on Hwy 59 through Foley, Alabama and farther South through Gulf Shores to Alabama Hwy 182.  Turn left onto Hwy 182, heading East to the Alabama – Florida State Line.  The highway changes from 4 lanes to 2 lanes at the state line.  At the state line, the road will turn into FL-292 E / Perdido Key Drive.  Continue 4/10 of a mile past the Flora-Bama Roadhouse at the Florida – Alabama line, and the  Playa Del Rio is on the left (on the bay side across from the beach).  If you pass the Tom Thumb gas station and convenience store on your left, you have gone too far (Playa del Rio is 1/10 of a mile west of the Tom Thumb on Perdido Key island).

FROM WEST on I-10 (using the new Baldwin Beach Expressway and Foley Beach Expressway):
Travel East on I-10 from Mobile, Alabama.  Take Exit 49 at Baldwin Beach Expressway.   Head South until the Baldwin Beach Expressway ends and connects with the Foley Beach Expressway, and continue to the toll bridge (tolls are only $3.50 per axle, there is only one toll booth on this route, and this route reduces travel time by at least half an hour when compared to traveling on Gulf Shores Parkway from I-10).   After crossing the toll bridge, turn left onto Canal Road.   Head East on Canal Road, and turn right onto AL-161 S/Orange Beach Blvd.  Drive South toward Perdido Beach Boulevard, and turn left when the road ends at Perdido Beach Boulevard.   Continue on Perdido Beach Boulevard in Orange Beach, Alabama until you cross over the Gulf Pass Bridge and then the Alabama – Florida state line.  The highway changes from 4 lanes to 2 lanes at the state line.  At the state line, the road will turn into FL-292 E / Perdido Key Drive.  Continued 4/10 of a mile past the Flora-Bama Roadhouse at the Florida – Alabama line, and the Playa Del Rio is on the left (on the bay side across from the beach).

FROM EAST on I-10 (traveling through Pensacola):
On I-10 westbound, take Exit #7 (old #2), turn left (traveling south) on Route 297 / Pine Forrest Road for approximately 2.2 miles.  Turn right onto Blue Angel Parkway / Route 173 and go approximately 10 miles.   Turn right on to Sorrento Road / Route 292 (there will be a Walmart and a Target at the traffic light intersection) and drive approximately 5.5 miles.   You will come to the Perdido Key Bridge that crosses the ICW, continue straight over the bridge.  Once on the island, the road will become Perdido Key Drive.  Continue on Perdido Key Drive approximately 5.7 miles (you will be traveling along the island’s scenic road with the Gulf of Mexico on your left and Old River on your right).   The Playa Del Rio is on the right 1/10 of a mile past the Tom Thumb convenience store and gas stations.
